3. San Juan's Day Intergenerational Stories
With the goal of building stronger community ties across generations and documenting traditions and stories about San Juans Day, this year’s festival will feature youth interviews with older community members. Story collection will contribute to a record of local traditions and be available for wider dissemination throughout the year.

11. Menlo Park Improvements Community Visioning
Youth from Ward 1 will work with Parks and Rec to lead community design and feedback events at Menlo Park to inform and improve Prop 407 Phase 3 renovations and identify how to increase shade equity for Menlo Park youth and other visitors.

13. Neighborhood Nature Walks and Community Building
Youth from Ward 1 will lead neighborhoods to identify community assets and needs, foster a Sense of Place, as well as learn and practice sustainable and holistic approaches to community development. This will increase youth leadership in the community and activate community cohesion in the neighborhood to map and identify ideas for neighborhood improvements.

5. Cultural Heritage and Community Engagement Research by Youth
High school age youth from Ward 1 will conduct action research and implement cultural heritage and community engagement projects. Youth will work in collaboration with their history classes and the Mexican American Heritage and History Museum. Youth projects will culminate in a museum exhibit and community celebration open to the public.

12. Early Childhood Literacy for Ward 1 Families
Families with young children in Ward 1 will have access to family education, literacy, and enrichment programming. Children and families will learn together through ongoing family workshops. Program participants will receive training, culturally-relevant educational materials and complimentary membership to Tucson Children Museum to continue their own literacy and enrichment.

14. Community Empowerment through Digital Storytelling
Through digital media workshops, Ward 1 youth will tell their own stories of equity, social justice, and community empowerment. Workshops provide youth critical digital media and literacy skills for community, career, and educational activities..

6. Beautification and Safety Projects on Main
This project will install planters and/or storm to share curb cuts and plantings along Main near the Dunbar Pavilion and at the corner of University and Main where storm flooding creates unsafe conditions for cyclists and pedestrians.

10. Casa de Encanto Accessibilty Curb Ramps
Curb ramps will be placed around Casa de Encanto, an affordable housing apartment complex designed especially for the elderly and mobility impaired living at 60% or less of area median income. Improvements will help residents access public transportation and get around the neighborhood.

1. Mission Road Beautification
This project will install of colorful, painted planters with native, drought resistant plants or trees near bus stops and along the roadway on Mission Road between Silverlake and 36th to beautify the area and increase greenery/shade. This project will culminate in a community event where neighbors can assist with painting, planting, and cleaning the roadway.

2. Beautification of Heritage Reach Walk along the Santa Cruz
High school youth from Ward 1 will seed bird and butterfly habitats along the Heritage Reach of the Santa Cruz River from Irvington to Speedway. The project will include wildflower gardens and signage with QR codes so people can learn about the natural and cultural history of the Santa Cruz River.

4. Barrio Hollywood Storm to Shade Planning
Barrio Hollywood faces stormwater flooding at Ontario and Delaware. This project will support design and planning sessions with neighborhood residents to collect ideas for storm to shade projects that can to reduce flooding and activate shade projects.

16. Mission Rd at Kennedy Park Beautification
In order to create a welcoming entrance to Kennedy Park at the Richard Elías-Mission Library, this project will focus on improving landscaping. The project will incorporate community input and engagement and increase greenery through rainwater gardens.

20. Neighborhood Shade Investment
Youth from Ward 1 will lead efforts to help mitigate the effects of climate change in Sunset Villa and Mission Circle. Youth will work with neighbors and city partners to increase equitable tree canopy cover for neighborhood residents.

7. Indigenous History and Exhibit Development
Indigenous artists and community members will create art that highlights indigenous history and talent for the Mexican American History Museum and throughout the TCC Campus. This project will be open to the public and educate the community to foster a greater appreciation and understanding of the historical factors that created modern-day Tucson.

8. Barrio Sobaco Neighborhood Entry Monument
This project will support the development of a neighborhood monument at Barrio Sobaco. Barrio Sobaco is one of the oldest barrios in Tucson currently does not have any identifying signage or public art. This project will bolster community pride and bring public awareness to the community.

9. Tohono O'Odham Family Monument Improvements
The O'odham Family Monument at the base of A-Mountain was installed in 1999. There is a community plan to add landscaping, lighting and additional beautification elements. This project would contribute to improve the accessibility and landscaping around this cultural monument highlighting the indigenous heritage of Tucson.

18. Adobe Brick Workshops
Ward 1 will offer workshops on Adobe brick making that elevate the skill set and knowledge of community members about the cultural relevance and history, and building of adobe bricks. Workshops will be offered in collaboration with local bricklayers and artisans.

22. Intergenerational Stories - El Pueblo Park
As mural renovations begin at El Pueblo Park and community center, youth will interview older community members to contribute to a record of local stories that celebrate community history and pride. Intergeneration stories will be incorporated into the public art and space.
