F. Renovate RRHA Parklets for Community Use

[PROVISIONAL] This project will renovate existing playgrounds and install new park signage on RRHA property. It will also include tree planting for shade, making these areas more inviting and accessible for residents.

I. Install Shade Structures in Gilpin

[PROVISIONAL] This project will build a gazebo with seating in the Gilpin Community Garden and plant street trees in vacant tree wells and around the Calhoun Community Center grounds to provide shade, improve air quality, and enhance outdoor gathering spaces.

H. Plant Trees in Northside Neighborhoods

This project will plant trees and native plants in parks and vacant street tree wells to increase shade, create cooler micro-climates, improve flood resilience, and connect green spaces across the district with “green pathways.”

Public Mobility

B. Enhance Bike Safety Infrastructure on Brookland Park Blvd

This project will install protected bike lanes from North Ave to Richmond Henrico Turnpike, continuing the existing “sharrow” bike infrastructure. The new lanes will feature bike lane striping and color treatments to improve visibility and ensure cyclist safety.

Estimated Cost: $214,000

E. Improve Pedestrian Crossings at Brookland Park Blvd

This project will install high-visibility road striping and crosswalk art murals at the intersections of Edgewood Ave, Garland Ave, and Griffin Ave to improve pedestrian safety and create a visually engaging streetscape.

C. Improve Pedestrian Crossings at Richmond Henrico Turnpike

This project will add pedestrian refuge islands on the eastern and western sides of Brookland Park Blvd as a safe resting point for pedestrians and a “road diet” feature to slow vehicle traffic. It will also include high visibility road striping and crosswalk art murals to enhance safety.

D. Improve Pedestrian Crossings at Barack Obama Elementary School

This project will install an LED pedestrian crossing beacon at Fendall Ave & W. Crawford St. and add high-visibility road striping to improve student safety near the school.

A. Improve Pedestrian Crossings at Richmond Community High School

This project will install LED pedestrian crossing signs at Lamb Ave and Woodrow Ave at E. Brookland Park Blvd. and add high-visibility road striping and crosswalk art murals to enhance pedestrian safety.

G. Provide Tech Upgrades for Community Centers and Libraries

This project will upgrade computer labs and extend WiFi coverage at community centers and libraries to improve access to technology and enhance digital learning opportunities at the following facilities: Calhoun Center, North Ave. Library, and Ginter Park Library.
