E. Upgrade Furniture and Seating at East End Library

This project will replace outdated tables and seating at the East End Library to create a more comfortable and functional environment for visitors, with support from library personnel.

C. Trash Cans for Municipal Waste at 7th District Bus Stops

This project will install trash compactors in key public areas (bus stops) to reduce waste overflow and improve efficiency in waste management.

B. Plant Trees to Increase Urban Canopy and Shade

This project will plant trees and native plants in vacant tree wells, medians, and green spaces to reduce urban heat, prevent flooding, and create green pathways. Particularly in areas with low income and high heat index ratings.

Environment and Safety

H. Enhance Streetscapes with Safety/ Beautification Improvements at intersection of Dock St and Pear St

This project will install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at the Dock St and Pear St intersection near the entrance to Shiplock Park to increase pedestrian visibility and improve crossing safety.

Estimated Cost: $120,000

Location: Dock Street and Pear Street

   

I. Improve Public Lighting around parks for Safety and Visibility

This project will enhance lighting in parks throughout the 7th district to improve visibility, minimize safety hazards, and highlight architectural features, signage, and land elements for better navigation. Particularly around Church Hill and Nine Mile road.

Arts and Culture

D. Install Public Art Tribute to Vice Admiral S. Gravely in Fulton

This project will commission a small statue, bust, or mural honoring Vice Admiral S. Gravely, ideally designed by a local artist to celebrate his contributions. Ideally placing the installation at the Fulton Memorial Park.

Public Mobility

A. Upgrade Bus Stops with Seating and Shelters

This project will build sheltered bus stops at highly trafficked locations that experience high heat vulnerability, providing protection from the elements and improving rider comfort. Particularly in the following areas: 25th & Q Stop #91 / Mosby + Fairmount Stop #1830 / Nine Mile + 27th Stop #1862

Estimated Cost: $80,000

Parks and Recreation

F. Upgrade Jefferson Park with New Amenities

This project will repair gym equipment, signage, and park facilities, and add new amenities such as hammock posts, a small dog park for dogs under 15 lbs, and bat houses to support local ecosystems.

Location: Jefferson Park

   

G. Install Bat Houses at Community Gardens and Parks

This project will install bat houses (“rocket boxes”) in community gardens and parks across the 7th District to support local ecosystems by controlling insect populations and reducing garden pests. Ideally in the following locations (community gardens ; Chimborazo dog park, Jefferson park)
