Honoring New Americans Through Healthy and Culturally Relevant Food Offerings ($5,000)

This food pantry serves 70 to 100 immigrant and refugee families twice each month, plus 500 families at its October distribution, honoring Asian American, Pacific Islander, African, and Muslim dietary practices. Funding keeps shelves stocked with fresh, shelf-stable, and culturally relevant foods so families can feed themselves with dignity. Rolling Towards Food Security ($5,000)

To improve food access, safety, and dignity at the food pantry, this project will buy 125 durable personal carts for seniors, families, and neighbors without reliable transportation. About 30 to 40 percent of pantry clients currently cannot carry home their full share of food, shorting their families on much-needed nutrition. Roots to Rise ($5,000)

Roots to Rise is a hands-on, garden-based learning program serving 20 underserved Syracuse youth in the Workforce Advancement Center (WAC) literacy summer enrichment program. Over six weeks at the Eastwood Community Garden, participants will plant, cultivate, and harvest fruits, vegetables, and herbs while learning about composting, native plants, and the importance of healthy eating. Nearly 40 percent of U.S. food is wasted, even as one in seven Onondaga County neighbors faces food insecurity. The Onondaga Food Rescue Network moves surplus food from local businesses and farms to people who need it. Survive & Thrive: Build Your Emergency Pantry Community Emergency Food Resilience Initiative ($3,000)

Will your family survive and thrive when power outages, severe weather, or supply disruptions hit? Many households lack the knowledge and gear to stay fed. This project will host 4 to 6 community workshops for more than 100 residents in underserved neighborhoods, teaching safe food storage, dehydration, canning, and using simple, culturally relevant methods on a shoestring budget.
