Street Resurfacing

Street/Alley Resurfacing and Sidewalk Repairs

What percentage of the total budget should go toward street/alley resurfacing and sidewalk repairs? (Select one box) The average cost for the first five blocks of resurfaced streets is $42,000 per block. Due to federal requirements for accessibility ramps, the average cost for any street resurfaced after the first five blocks is $70,500 per block. The average estimated cost for the first alley resurfaced is $31,500. The estimated cost for subsequent alleys is $49,500. The estimated cost for a new alley apron (the area located at the mouth of the alley, between the sidewalk and the street) is estimated at $10,000. The average cost to replace a block of sidewalks is $75,000.

Lighting up the Schools: New Lights around Sullivan and Kilmer Schools

Install residential streetlights on the 6600 blocks of Greenview and Bosworth, from Albion to North Shore. Also install new flood lights on Kilmer in the alleys at North Shore and Greenview.

Automatic Door Openers for Rogers Park Public Library

Install automatic openers on inner and outer doors to make it easier for people with disabilities and people with strollers to enter and exit the library.

Mural and Mosaic Projects

Paint a mural ($30,000) on the CTA enbankment wall of Dubkin Park (7430 N. Ashland). Install a mosaic mural ($60,000) on the Howard Street window bays and the entrance wall of the Willye White Fieldhouse, 1610 W. Howard (subject to approval by Chicago Park District ).

Improvements at Dubkin, Paschen and Loyola Parks

Install a concrete entryway at Dubkin Park (located on Ashland between Fargo and Birchwood) to improve access for people with strollers or mobility impairments ($10,000). Install a 15-foot fence around Paschen Park basketball hoops (Lunt and Damen) to improve safety and protect property ($15,000). Install two chess tables in Loyola Park ($10,000).

New Residential Streetlights on Greenview

Add streetlights from 7060 to 7200 N. Greenview (Greenleaf to Touhy) to increase safety.

New Public Benches on Bus Routes

Install 11 bus benches on Clark southbound at Touhy, North Shore, Pratt and Greenleaf; on Clark northbound at Albion, North Shore, Pratt and Lunt; on Devon at Greenview and Lakewood; on Sheridan southbound at North Shore.

Curb Cuts at Howard CTA Terminal
