Welcome to the Participatory Budgeting electronic ballot for the 1st Ward in Chicago (PB1), courtesy of the Stanford Crowdsourced Democracy Team. By participating in the PB1 election, you can help decide how to spend public funds on community infrastructure in the 1st Ward.

On this website you can familiarize yourself with the project proposals for the 1st Ward's Participatory Budgeting vote. You will be deciding how you want to allocate $1 million of the ward's aldermanic menu budget for 2021.

First you will be asked to rank your top five (5) favorite project choices to allocate the 1st Ward's menu money. After you go through and select your 5 projects on the ballot page, MAKE SURE you rank them from 1st to 5th at the very bottom of the page. If you do not choose the ranked order, the projects will be ranked according to the order you selected them on the ballot.

After casting your vote:

We ask that you take just a few minutes to participate in a short online research ballot comparing projects and their costs. This is part of Stanford's academic research, and is completely voluntary. You can also participate in a short survey to help us learn a little bit about the voters in our PB election. UIC’s Great Cities Institute is collecting this data to help us do a better job in engaging and informing the community in the future. This survey is also completely voluntary.

Voting is open to all residents of the Ward ages 14 and up, regardless of citizenship status.

Thank you for voting! Please tell your friends and family to vote as well!

The last day to vote will be on March 12, 2021 at 11:59pm.

Unfortuntately due to the circumstance of COVID-19, we are not conducting in-person voting this year. You can reach us by email at nicholaszettel@the1stward.com. If you don't have an access code for voting or for more information, call 872-206-2685 or visit www.pbchicago.org.
