South Sacramento Entrepreneurial and Career Academy

This project would fund an organization to organize youth and youth adult entrepreneurship training in South Sacramento. These trainings will focus on topics such as Entrepreneurial Programs, Art/Culture Classes, Educational/Life Skills Programs, Culinary, etc. Programs would also address Healing Circles (Adult and Youth), recreation, and anti-violence. Eligibility for implementing organizations is limited to those with an annual operating budget of less than $75,000 with a successfully proven history in implementing the training topics. Additionally, funds will be used toward startup costs to establish a culinary institute.

Teaching Tech

Tech is the future and students in Southeast Sacramento are at a disadvantage. This project is for an organization that goes to different schools and afterschool programs to teach students how to code, design, educate, and program using current tech. To be eligible, the implementing organization must have an annual operating budget under $100,000 and already be serving your community.

District 8 Home Garden Activation

This program would pay for one time funding to allow residents in District 8 to purchase products and supplies to activate a home garden at their home or apartment. Education on how to create, maintain, and successfully grow food would be included as neighbors who participate in this program would share successes and information through in person meet-ups or social media platforms. Additionally, neighbors who participate will create a small neighborhood farmers market where the community can share each other's fruits or vegetables.

Sacramento Area Homeless Services Event 2023

The homeless services event will provide a specific day for the unhoused to come out to a safe place and receive much needed services, food, music, and community. The qualified organization will provide services that are typically difficult for the homeless to obtain. Some of these services will provide key support that will aid in the many of the difficulties the homeless experience. The idea of the event is to provide a day that will both help with their needs, while showing them the respect and love they deserve. This project will be available for nonprofits with an annual operating budget of $50,000 or less. To be eligible, the implementing organization must have an annual operating budget under $50,000

Danny Nunn Athletic Field Improvements

This project would fund improvements to Danny Nunn Park. The improvements that would be prioritized include: 1) repairing the bleachers, 2) removing and repairing sidewalks, 3) repairing the chain link fence, 4) repairing sprinklers, and 5) installation of new signage. If the total cost of these priority improvements exceeds $150,000, the City will prioritize the greatest number of improvements that can be made within the allotted budget.

Transportation Van for Underserved and Unhoused Youth in Oak Park

Help underserved youth succeed. School absentee rate is at an all time high and educational growth is at an all time low. These students need reliable transportation to access learning opportunities. This project would allow a community-based organization to purchase a van and provide free transportation services to these students. To be eligible, the implementing organization must have an annual operating budget under $100,000 and already be serving your community.

Sacramento HUGS (Helping Unhoused Get Services) Program

Sacramento HUGS is an outreach program to give those experiencing homelessness in the city a lifeline to resources so that they may be guided towards secured housing and employment with assistance from mental health workers and City partners.

Outreach Services for the Mental Health Crisis and Homelessness

This project would increase capacity for established community-based organizations (CBOs) operating within the southeastern Sacramento area. The project would fund outreach teams consisting of three qualified mental health specialists. These teams would provide mental health and/or violence prevention services to unhoused community members while actively seeking to connect persons experiencing homelessness to community resources.

Cold Weather Apparel and Necessity Drive for the Homeless

With the cold and wet winter approaching, warm and waterproof jackets are needed to keep our homeless warm and dry. Also needed are sleeping bags to keep them warm, safe and dry. This project would fund a small nonprofit organization to purchase the jackets, sleeping bags, and other winter necessities. Funded organization will deliver winter apparel to the homeless population. This project will be available for nonprofits with an annual operating budget of $50,000 or less.

Beautify Sacramento

Beautify the streets of Sacramento bounded by Meadowview/Mack Rd. Providing trash cans and trash pick ups. Project could hire the youth/volunteers to design trash cans that will be placed within a blocks radius in such locations. This could create community awareness and get the people involved. This will give our youth something to take pride in and help enforce less littering within the community. This could also influence youth job training and employment with other established organizations willing to collaborate. A cleaner environment enhances the property value and visitors of businesses. Placement of new trash receptacles and regularly scheduled pick-ups will require a third party to manage the project which includes purchasing the receptacles, obtaining all required permits, completing or contracting for the installation work, and financing ongoing collection, service, and maintenance of trash receptacles.

Festival of Books on Parade in Oak Park

This project would implement mobile library services through neighborhoods in Oak Park that currently do not have permanent library services over a 12-month period. Additionally, four festivals focusing on library services would be produced in Oak Park parks inviting community-based organizations (CBOs) and library services to come together at the festival where we showcase library services.

Women of Color Health Legacy Mini Garden Project

Provide education on health disparities and intervention information for women of color. This project aims to improve food security and better mental and physical health for 100 residents in Oak Park. Participants will be instructed on gardening and supplied materials to start a container garden at home. To be eligible, the implementing organization must have a proven history of success in container gardening and have an annual operating budget of under $100,000.

Additional Literacy Support for Elementary Students

Literacy rates in Southeast Sacramento are in crisis. This project would fund existing literacy programs in Southeast Sacramento and assist students multiple grades behind in reading. Eligible programs must have school partnerships, and a track record of measurable results providing services to underserved youth, unhoused youth, English Language learners. To be eligible, the implementing organization must have an annual operating budget under $100,000 and already be serving your community.
