Basketball Courts at Riverview Fisk Park

The City will install new basketball rims and improve both basketball courts in the park.

Activities for Connors Center Seniors

The City will sponsor a monthly day trip for the Seniors at the Connors Center.

Estimated Cost: $15,000

   

Fitness Equipment in Senior Centers

The City will install treadmills, stationary bikes, weights, and other fitness equipment in senior centers throughout Ward D.

Estimated Cost: $10,000

   

Bus Shelter at Palisade and Congress Street

The City will install a bus shelter at Palisade and Congress Street to provide cover from the elements while waiting for the bus to arrive.

Estimated Cost: $5,000

   

Safety Classes for Women and Children

The City will sponsor an event once a month to provide education and instruction on general safety measures and precautions for women and children to stay safe.

Estimated Cost: $30,000

   

Exercise Equipment in Leonard Gordon Park

The City will purchase various exercise equipment for residents to use in Leonard Gordon Park.

Estimated Cost: $15,000

   

Banner Poles around the Heights

The City will install 10 banner poles throughout the Heights (Summit Avenue, Riverview Park, and Central Avenue) to designate various points of interest in the neighborhood.

Estimated Cost: $30,000

   

Trash and Litter Cleanup and Campaigns

A general Cleanup Initiative. The City will install new trash and recycling receptacles throughout Ward D, install several pet waste bag stations, and sponsor a campaign around cleanliness and litter prevention.

Playground Improvement for Children with Special Needs

This money will go to enhancing existing playgrounds in the Heights to ensure there are suitable activities and equipment to accommodate children with special needs.

Trees in the Heights

The City will plant 50 new trees in the Heights to increase the tree canopy and beautify the city streetscape.

More Signs for Easier Navigation to Parks

The City will install signage helping to direct residents to parks with one example being at Bleecker Street and South Street.

Sober Pop-Up Bars

The City will sponsor 3 nightlife events this summer that don’t revolve around alcohol. These events aim to provide fun community spaces in the neighborhood to socialize without alcohol.
