In a Knapsack Vote, a budget cap is set for the ballot. Voters choose any number of projects, keeping the total cost of their chosen projects at or below the budget cap. After all votes are cast, winning projects are chosen in order according to the total number of votes they received, until the budget cap is reached.
Community Healing Center: Property Purchase and Renovations for The Silent Task Force (Task House)
Provide funds for The Silent Task Force to purchase a building in the Skyway/West Hill area. Funds can also be used for property renovations. Direct award to The Silent Task Force. Community Impact: Create a stable hub for vital services, promoting equity, well-being, and long-term community resilience by securing the future of the Silent Task Force-Task House. The Task House currently serves as a community center hub, providing housing support, an apprenticeship program, a food distribution site, a digital lab, a community kitchen, a holistic medicine practitioner space, and more. Ensure continued support for Skyway’s residents who are marginalized, have low incomes, and/or are seniors.

Upgrade outdated bathrooms and improve wiring for a new 4-unit shower trailer at REACH Renton’s Center of Hope (at Lakeridge Lutheran Church). Direct Award to Lakeridge Lutheran Church. Community Impact: Upgrade the shelter’s facilities so REACH Renton’s Center of Hope can continue to provide a safe, accessible refuge for vulnerable families and individuals, enhancing their dignity and comfort during times of crisis. Serve up to 10 families and 2 single women at a time in a safe, supportive environment.
