Ranked Choice Voting

Acts on Stage – Programming

After school program theater training/arts program. Free 10-month program for 50 youths aged 10-17. Transportation provided. This is a direct grant to Acts on Stage.

Green Education – New Start

Organic gardening education program for students and the community, providing organic culturally relevant produce for the White Center Food Bank. Support for the student Summer Gardening program for at-risk youths. This is a direct grant to New Start School.

Youth Center Programming at Log Cabin

Enhance existing youth program operating out of the Log Cabin, to provide drop-in public space for youths aged 14-18 • Free to all youths aged 14-18 • Various after-school activities • Summer programming

Voter Education

Voter education and outreach. Educate marginalized community members on voter registration and how to understand a ballot.

Wolverine Select – Funding

Supports participation in basketball program for youths from families with low incomes or who are historically underserved. Students (grades 3-11) would participate in weekly practices, local tournaments, and programming at partner sites. Programming to include academic support, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities. This is a direct grant to Wolverine Select.

Nepantla Cultural Art Programming

Funding to provide capacity building and programming to the Nepantla Center cultural arts space for artists who are Latinx and the White Center community. This is a direct grant to the Nepantla Center.

White Center Heights Elementary School – Family Resource Center

Funding for bilingual staff members to support families by providing communication in Somali, Vietnamese and Spanish; capacity building; resource center supplies. This is a direct grant to White Center Heights Elementary.

Displacement Documentary – Film

Funding to support the creation of a documentary film capturing the effects of displacement in unincorporated areas of White Center/North Highline.

Gifts of Hope

Funding to support capacity/community building for the Gifts of Hope program that provides resources for community members with low incomes or who are underserved. This is a direct grant to Gifts of Hope.

Salvation Army – Workshops

Funding for free STEM programming for youths in White Center/North Highline.

Estimated Cost: $48,600

   

Gameshape

Free after-school physical education program that teaches principles of movement through athletic-based training, strength, and conditioning. Serving youths aged 8-17; school year/summer camp. This is a direct grant to Gameshape.

Mental Health – Grief Support

Healing groups/workshops for youths, families with low incomes.

Estimated Cost: $32,500

   

Parent Education/Advocacy Support

Funding to support parent education advocacy in schools, which will empower parents to advocate for their children.
