Three New Public Art Murals
Revitalize Cambridge with 3 new neighborhood murals. This public art project would reflect our cultural diversity, strength, and positive energy. Local artists working with high school students would produce the murals.
Estimated Cost: $120,000
Location: The Port, Mid Cambridge, North Cambridge.
Finding your way at Danehy Park
This proposal will install new signs and maps at Danehy Park. Existing signs are broken, outdated, or missing making it difficult to navigate the 50-acre park. New signs will make Danehy inviting and easy to navigate for all visitors.
Estimated Cost: $75,000
Location: Danehy Park.
Visual Communication Boards in Playgrounds
This project will install visual communication boards in playgrounds for children who have difficulty with verbal communication. This tool allows children and caregivers to point to images to communicate their needs and desires.
Estimated Cost: $20,000
Location: Public parks in Cambridge. Locations will be determined by need and impact assessments.
Look and Listen: Safer Crossing for Cambridge
Install pedestrian crosswalk signals that vibrate with audio at 10 locations. Install rapid flashing beacons at 5 locations in Cambridge. This equipment will provide greater visibility and safety at crosswalks throughout the city.

Digital Map for Navigating Cambridge
Install a digital sign to help with public navigation. This project will provide a street map, list public transportation routes, community landmarks (libraries, parks, schools, etc.), and include information about upcoming events and important announcements.
Estimated Cost: $60,000
Location: A high-density area or near transit stations at major squares.
Trees for Danehy Park and Cambridge
Trees provide many benefits like shade, wildlife habitat, and natural beauty. Trees also help with carbon storage, stormwater control, and improved air quality. This proposal will plant new trees in Danehy Park and other needed areas around Cambridge.

Location: Danehy Park and additional areas determined by the City.
Enhance The Moore Youth Center Exterior
This project will improve the exterior of the Moore Youth Center to include a small garden, better tables, outdoor seating, an art installation, and more. These improvements will make the area more comfortable and youth friendly.

Let’s Play Chess
Install outdoor chess tables in parks, city squares, and near libraries. This project will encourage community interaction through chess, checkers, and other board games! This project will ensure that residents can borrow chess sets from public libraries.

Basketball Renovations
Basketball is a popular sport in Cambridge. Let’s improve our courts to make exercise more appealing and fun! This improvement project will resurface two neglected basketball courts, install new rims and nets, and repaint faded lines.

Sit and Recharge in the Shade
Install 10 shaded benches with solar power charging stations around Cambridge. This project will improve the daily quality of life for pedestrians. These solar benches will allow people to sit out of the sun and charge their electronic devices.

Location: To be determined based on need, impact, and space availability. Recommended locations include parks and city squares.
Outdoor Gym
Installing outdoor workout equipment in local parks encourages people to exercise. This equipment would include pull-up and dip bars, benches, and locations for stretching. Outdoor gyms help keep Cambridge residents healthy and fit!

Automatic Doors for Libraries
This project would install automatic doors at multiple branches of the Cambridge Public Library. Automatic doors will help make libraries more accessible to the public.
Estimated Cost: $150,000
Location: To be determined by need and feasibility assessments. Recommended locations include O’Neill, Collins, and O’Connell Branch Libraries.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Install electric vehicle charging stations at two locations. Electric vehicles are becoming more popular, but not everyone can charge them at home. Public chargers encourage electric car use and benefit our environment.
Estimated Cost: $250,000
Location: To be determined by need and impact assessments. Target locations include municipal parking lots, streets with electrical infrastructure, and where demand exists.
Expand Access to Bluebikes
Install 3 new Bluebikes stations in areas of need to expand the current network. Each Bluebikes station will increase access to riders with 19 docks and 12 bikes. Vote to support affordable and sustainable transportation!
Estimated Cost: $175,000
Location: Areas lacking adequate Bluebikes infrastructure.
Bike Parking and Bike Repair Stations
Biking infrastructure doesn’t end with bike lanes. This project will construct a bike shelter with 20 covered spaces. Install 50 new bike racks with a capacity for 100 bikes and install 10 new bike repair stations.

Smart Recycling and Trash Compactors
Add 5 touchless rodent-resistant “Big Belly” recycling and trash compactors in Cambridge. Big Belly bins are solar-powered and more efficient than traditional bins, they keep the City cleaner, reduce the rodent population, and increase access to recycling.

Let’s play Pickleball
Let’s make the game of pickleball available to Cambridge community members at multiple locations! This proposal will add adjustable nets, regulation pickleball lines, signage, and benches to the tennis courts at Glacken Field and Hoyt Field.

E-cargo Bikes for Watering Trees
E-cargo bikes help City staff maintain our urban canopy. During droughts and heat waves, E-cargo bikes transport equipment across Cambridge to water trees. Purchasing three new E-cargo bikes would expand the City’s ‘water-by-bike’ program.
